Martyn has been a councillor for Billericay East Ward since 2024.
He is currently Shadow Cabinet Member for Finance and the Conservative Group Whip. He also sits on the Resources Scrutiny Committee and the Billericay Area Committee.
Martyn has lived in Billericay for nearly 40 years and is a former police officer. His wife, Kim, is also a Billericay town councillor. They have a grown up son.
Martyn is now a lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University and was a part-time tutor in Adult Education at James Hornsby School, Fryerns Adult Community College and Basildon Adult Community College. Martyn has served as a Billericay town councillor for several years and is looking forward to working closely as part of a local Conservative team to improve Billericay East.
He is also currently Treasurer of the Basildon & Billericay Conservative Association and Chairman of the Billericay East Branch.

Billericay East falls within the Billericay & Burstead Division of Essex County Council. Martyn works closely alongside the local county councillors, Anthony Hedley and Richard Moore, on county issues such as highways.
