Tony has been a county councilor for the Wickford Crouch Division of Essex County Council since 2017 and is a former Leader of Basildon Council, having represented Wickford North Ward from 1998 to 2014.

He is currently Cabinet Member for Economic Development at Essex and also sits on the Local Children's Partnership Board for South Essex.
