Chris has lived in Langdon Hills for 23 years and is the prospective Conservative candidate for the Langdon Hills ward in the 6th May 2021 Basildon Borough Elections.
Chris has been interested in participating in the local community from an early age. Activities include having spent his school-leaving summer holidays as a teaching assistant at Lincewood School; helping with his local martial arts instructor's karate classes demonstrating, teaching, helping to make commercial instructional videos and writing some articles. More recently, Chris found time to volunteer for the 2019 Summer Reading Challenge at Laindon Library where many children from Laindon and Langdon Hills took part in the last major library event before the pandemic unfolded.
In 2020, Chris signed up for the Covid-19 vaccination trials and has since volunteered at the Lateral Flow Device test centre that was set up in Towngate Theatre and continues to volunteer when needed at the Holy Trinity Church and George Hurd vaccination centres.
Every time I have returned to the the vaccination centre, clear and effective efficiencies have been made - senior residents, over 65s, NHS and front-line health staff have been fantastic in receiving the jab, and the constant improvements are a credit to the medical staff, management and volunteer marshalls.
The lead Dr has offered all volunteers spare vaccinations; as someone who receives the flu jab annually I jumped at the chance and feel so much more confident as a type 1 diabetic having had part 1 of 2 Covid vaccinations to help combat this universal enemy.
Word of the need for volunteers came through Chris' membership of a local club involved with promoting humanitarian goodness in our neighbourhoods as well as globally. Chris is currently serving the treasury role for the club, which is globally non-religious and non-political, hence the limited detail here. Lockdown activities have included raising money for mental health charities who support Basildon borough residents and helping fund a Langdon Hills charitable trust that has struggled to raise funds for its beneficiaries due to event cancellations and shielding.
In the world of work, Chris is involved with personal financial services as a Chartered professional.
"I am dedicated to providing value to private individuals, couples, families and businesses, by listening wholeheartedly to what people really want and delivering trustworthy, technical advice that is simple and easy to understand."
Since January 2020, Chris has been a Trustee of the Essex Beekeeper's Association and is currently serving his second year. There are nine Divisions in Essex and Chris also sits on the Southend & District (including Basildon) committee.
Being a trustee and active divisional member of Essex's local beekeepers' association coincides with Basildon Borough Council's "Pollinator Policy" which is in place for three years. I really want to become Langdon Hills councillor to press on this issue and network with wider wildlife groups to include initiatives promoting the health and populations of other insect pollinators.
What I'm listening to: How to Avoid a Climate Disaster by Bill Gates read on BBC Sounds

With election to Basildon Borough Council on 6th May 2021, alongside my co-campaigner in Langdon Hills, Charlie Sansom, residents will have two agenda-pushing public servants as their local Councillors.
Activity is vital and requires deeply interested and engaging collaborators just like Charlie and me. Democracy demands openness and availability in a world that includes effective social media and the rapid proliferation of inner government events. We are dedicated to being connected and available to residents.
We will push for a council that is fairly run, accountable and stands up for itself in a professional manner. This means providing everyday services as matter of fact, helping and enabling businesses to flourish, whether traditional, digital or mixed, ensuring the educational opportunities our children need as well as keeping adult education relevant, enhancing our green belt, making our urban environments more and more green, and so much more!
